Claim to Fame: Since 1993, SOS Outreach has engaged over 70,000 participants in an outdoor world that wasn’t intended for them. It’s through the power of the outdoors and relationships that we change the trajectory for youth. Last winter, SOS Outreach celebrated our 25th anniversary. This season, we’ve dived deep into our next 25 years with significant program growth across the country for underserved youth gearing up for life. SOS now engages 4,000 youth each year, across 21 locations in nine states.

None of our impacts would be possible without the dedication of our community and the hundreds of individuals, schools, teachers, sponsors and funders who roll up their sleeves with us daily. We truly have a team rallied around expanding access and providing opportunity through the outdoors.

The outdoors is a powerful space to break down those barriers that exist with people from different neighborhoods, or with different skin color, or with different financial backgrounds. As participants achieve together and engage with an adult mentor, they build a community that empowers each and every one of them to realize their full potential and carve their own paths for an incredibly bright future.
Five years down the line, it’s our hope that:
our program graduates are working across the organization and that our alum are involved in mentoring our participants after high school graduation.
