Inclusion in the outdoors matters because:
So many reasons. Parks and public land are for all people. Access to open spaces and public spaces may be seen as a human right, as a requirement for an equitable society. And if human beings are going to do anything meaningful to combat climate change and reverse the global extinction crisis, we are going to need people who have not traditionally been part of the environmental movement to not only join the cause, but to lead.
Five years down the line, it’s our hope that:
● The makeup of our board and staff is significantly different, with currently underrepresented populations now making up a portion of the board and staff.
● Our grantmaking is explicitly tied to our DEI goals.
● Our DEI goals publicly defined and are also tracked transparently and publicly.
