The Culture
The best thing about working at Appalachian State is:
The students. Our students are so talented and passionate about 0utdoor recreation and sharing that passion with others.
When we’re Not Working, We’re:
Outside experiencing it all including hiking/biking local trails with friends old and new and swimming in the local swimming holes.
What we’re reading:
A bag of books from the library sale, Posts from other university departments to stay in touch and support each other
What we’re listening to:
Western, Folk, Americana
If they made a movie about our workplace, it would be called:
Peer Led Positivity
Inclusion in the outdoors matters because:
It is degrading to not feel included in something. The world started with no buildings and everyone's life depended on the outdoors. While society has changed significantly over the years, everyone should feel included in the outdoors if they so desire.
Five years down the line, it’s our hope that:
When people think of the Outdoor Industry, they will not associate any particular group of people with the outdoors.
