The Culture

The best thing about working at topo Athletic is:

Working for a company where we have a voice and can make an impact. We’re a small team and each of us plays an important role in the daily workings and the future of Topo. We’re able to have an impact not only on the day-to-day business and trajectory of the company, but on a much larger, deeper scale as well. Our voices are not only called upon, but heard.

When we’re not working, we’re:

Running (obviously), exploring the great outdoors, reading, working on art, surfing, mountain biking, skiing, baking, spending quality time with loved ones.

What we’re reading:

A lot of different genres and topics, everything from The Ride of a Lifetime: Lesson Learned from 15 years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company by Robert Allen Iger to So you want to talk about Race by Ijeoma Oluo.

What we’re listening to/Watching on Netflix:

“Short Wave” with NPR, “Unlocking us” with Brené Brown, “The Goop Podcast” and “History that Doesn’t Suck “with Professor Greg Jackson.

If they made a movie about our workplace, it would be called:

Fridays at Jack’s. Every Friday we have a team lunch, most of the time at Jacks Abbey, a local brewery and restaurant next door to our office. A lot of great ideas from the team are born there!

Inclusion in the outdoors matters because:

This planet belongs to all of us. Our connection to the Earth shapes our humanity. Thus, it’s imperative every single one of us should have access to our wild places, to feel safe to enjoy them and be fully represented in the outdoor industry. Fostering a love for the outdoors across all backgrounds will greatly impact the future and vitality of the natural world.

Five years down the line, it’s our hope that:

We will live in a world and work in an industry that includes, represents and celebrates people of all backgrounds, races, cultures, identities and orientations. In five years, we hope to be seen as a strong participant in the ongoing work needed to accomplish this and active ally for underrepresented communities.
