The Culture

The best thing about working at outdoor research is:

Sharing a passion with imaginative, optimistic colleagues who want to get more people outside with better gear.

When we’re not working, we’re:

Outside with loved ones, volunteering for causes we care about, and dreaming up the next big trip, invention, or objective.

What we’re reading:

Nonfiction, historic accounts, Real Change, trade publications, guide books, maps

What we’re listening to:

One another. Our hearts. Our guts. KEXP, KUOW.

If they made a movie about our workplace, it would be called:

Method in Madness / The Big Office / All Change Begins with Research

Inclusion in the outdoors matters because:

When we increase outdoor participation, we increase the number of people who care about the environment, who dedicate their time to citizen science, and who fight for climate justice alongside racial justice. Inclusion matters because the more people who are a part of our outdoor community, the greater of an impact we can make together. Only when united can we enact the change we wish to see.

Five years down the line, it’s our hope that:

We see all types of different ages, abilities, genders, orientations, races, classes, languages, and people enjoying the outdoors together…in amazing gear.
