The Culture

The best thing about working at Adventure Scientists is:

The strength and knowledge of the team, and our commitment to working together cohesively to affect change in conservation and human health.

When we’re not working, we’re:

Adventuring, gardening, sewing, learning new instruments, volunteering in our community, etc. Depends on who you ask on our team!

What we’re reading:

Our team is digging into how we can help dismantle systemic racism. Individually, and as a group, we’re reading ‘White Fragility’ and ‘How to be an anti-racist’.

What we’re listening to:

We have a big team with a diverse taste, some of us are listening to local bluegrass and going to DIY rock house shows, many of us are new parents and listening to ‘Baby Beluga’ on repeat.

If they made a movie about our workplace, it would be called:

Science on the edge’

Inclusion in the outdoors matters because:

We all benefit from having an organization where everyone (our staff and board, partners, local community and volunteers) can bring their whole selves to Adventure Scientists, without fear of explicit or implicit bias and overt or covert discrimination.

Five years down the line, it’s our hope that:

Our goal is to identify needed actions now, and in five years, we will have operationalized diversity, equity, justice and inclusion into every aspect of the structure and strategy of Adventure Scientists.
